Treasurer / Field Meet Co-ordinator – Alan Walker northeasternrooflines@hotmail.co.uk

Regional Representative: Brian Abbey

The 2007/08 Season is now coming to an end for most, hawks are being fed up and placed within the chambers ready for moult and breeding. Unfortunately there have been a few losses this season within the region both hawks and hounds, to these guys id say keep strong and keep hunting.

Our bi-monthly meeting continue to be attended well with a good percentage of the regional membership attending, our regional raffles are still proving as popular as ever which sees the regional funds boosted at every meet. There have however been a couple of issues and alleged allegations raised within the region. These issues have been dealt with in accordance to club rules and as a region we look forward and endeavour to continue going from strength to strength.  The regional feed meet calendar has never been so full as this season with some excellent venues, it is also very encouraging to see a number new of ‘field meet regulars’ as new members this season to the region these guys have enjoyed some excellent days flying there Harris Hawks at a number of field meet venues.
By the time you read this the end of season dinner will have been held (you should of received a letter) We are expecting Nick H-Mart the Club Director to be in attendance with his good lady wife to what is always a great social event and lovely end to an other season.
The committee remains unchanged following the 2008 AGM, as a regional committee we are always looking forward with one aim to make this the best region in the club a region to be really proud of. We need your help! Your support, Your attendance –One Club One Passion!

Alan Walker has done an excellent job as field meet co-ordinator, organising up to two regional field-meets a month, mainly subsidised at some class venues. We have also made contact with a couple of new venues for 2008/09 Season, the bank balance is looking very healthy so with regional approval this coming season is looking to be equally exciting.

Recently it was asked at a meeting by a new regional member if this was a goshawk club as this was what he’d been told prior to attending? The North East region is a mixed region our regional meets are open to all with a mixture of days organised flying at Rabbit, Hare and Game. Every member is a valuable member and as always this is your region, come along and have your say, attend the meets and enjoy some spectacular sport and great camaraderie in the field.

Keep up to date with the happenings within the region at www.britishfalconersclub.co.uk

Finally I’d like to wish everyone attempting breeding this season all the best and here’s to a quick and clean moult!

Regards,
Michael Taylor

Regional Field Meet co-ordinator Report

Firstly may I take this opportunity to thank our long serving Regional Patrons Michael Lloyd – ‘Threepwood’ and David Brotherton – ‘Whitwell-on-the-Hill’ Your continued support is always appreciated and for this I thank you on behalf of the region.

Bellow is a brief over view of some of the season highlights:

Whitwell October 2007
The regional field meet calendar was kick started with a visit to Whitwell, one of our usual venues. The weekend provided some excellent sport quarry was plentiful with some good dog work quarry was put in the bag.

Kettlewell November 2007
One of our newest regional field meets with spectacular views it provided an abundance of quarry Rabbit, partridge and pheasants. Everyone in attendance had reported an excellent meet and we will hopefully be adding this venue once again next season for a two day meet.

Peebles
Unfortunately the Peebles meet had to be cancelled at the last minute due to the Bird Flu outbreak, which I think we all felt was going to be a long drawn out affair and possible an premature end to the season. Thankfully before our next meeting at Reevesby Estate in Lincolnshire the movement ban was lifted which allowed us to continue.

Threepwood December 2007
Another one of our usual venues which again proved to be an excellent weekend hawking for both new and old members with the abundance of rabbits, I think everyone went home with a bag full and a smile on there face.

Good luck to everyone who is breeding and to those who will be flying an eyass for the forthcoming season.

Regards,
Alan Walker
