Scottish Region

About the region

The region was originally set up in December 1982 with Mrs D Durham-Walters being Regional Chairman, Secretary was Mr J Murray and Treasurer Mr G Haine with Mr A McKissock being the council representative for Scottish Region.

All disciplines of falconry are practised and encouraged within the region and members fly a broad spectrum of Eagles, Longwings, Shortwings, Broadwings and some micros.

Field meets have been held across the region and are a great way to socialise and meet fellow members. In 2005 an international field meet was held in Scotland and was attended by over 100 falconers and spectators.

The vast geographical area covered by the region presents challenges to hosting regular gatherings although quiz nights and BBQ’s have been enjoyed by members. Modern technology has, however, allowed us to hold zoom meetings to enable members to keep in touch and discuss their falconry

The membership comprises of men and women, young and old and from all different backgrounds and are a friendly and welcoming community.
